    distributor problem

I've found that the distributor on my 73 911S does not give me enough advance. It may be from a T or E. Does anyone have a source for new one or a place to rebuild it?
    Thanks

    Philip,
How are you checking your advance?

First check to make sure which distributor you have. Then ensure the correct advance at high RPM (about 35 degrees at 6000 RPM if I recall correctly). If that is right, and the car does not idle down, then the problem is typically a stuck advance mechanism in the distributor.

    Hi Philip

Did you ever figure out the issues with your distributor? Or did you find someone to rebuild it? I'm having a misfire problem with my '69S. It really cacks out at around 3000 rpm. My mechanics says it has a much too agressive advance curve and suspects problems with the distributor. We're thinking it needs a rebuild.

Here is the shop I used to recurve my dist. It was only $35 and it was done the same day.

Also make sure to lube the shaft, pull up the felt and drop some oil in. This should be done on a regular basis. Also go on pelican and search for distributor posts and comments from Warren (early_s_man) he can help you out.
