James Bond wants a Early 911

First of all, my thanks to Roger G. for all the work he did in making the GAF a great time. I know he spent ALOT of time, expense, putting it all together. I had a great time Roger, thanks again. I know John Dilger, did alot of work with the Marriott and the GAF putting it together, thank you John.

I was told by more than a few people to post these photos ASAP.

On Friday I caravaned my 3 cars with Eade H. and his 6. Eade made reservations at Geoffreys, in Malibu, for lunch. As we left the restaurant, heading into the parking lot, I saw a Aston Martin Vanquish.

While we gathered the cars together, I noticed someone pointing out the cars to his friend. He was smiling as he noded his head in approval. He was standing next to the Aston, waiting for the valet. It was then I figured out who he was, Pierce Brosnan.

I had my camera in my hand, and motioned if I could take a photo. My plan was just to take a photo of him. HE walked over to Eade and I with a big smile and wanted to have the photo taken with the cars in the background.
I know Eric Linden and I had photos taken. I mentioned who we were and he said "love the cars."

As we drove north on PCH he made a point to get next to us in his Aston. He would go to the front of the pack, then fall behind, as he drove in the next lane, giving thumbs up.

I would NOT be too surprised to hear he owns Early 911, in the very near future.

COOL. He should join the club, as long as he doesn't turn the beloved early cars into another Hollywood "fad". I say, let them have their SUVs.

    Great story Ray!
I want to also Thanks Roger and John for all the work that was envolved in putting the deal together. A two day event takes weeks of planing. This type of work doesn't "get done" by itself!
Had a great time with all. I took the red eye back and need to go home now and hit the shower!! Had to check to board and thank eveybody first!
    Later......

    Great Pictures

Is Ray starstruck in that picture?

On second thought, maybe Pierce is also telling this story to his movie and secret agent buddies - as in "You won't believe who I had my picture taken with today!"

The Hollywood SUV fad? Very last year. Now the ultimate Hollywood power play is jumping the six month wait to get a Prius.

A whole hearted thanks to all involved that MADE my weekend one of the best I've had in a loooong time.

Thanks to Roger and the rest of his volunteer crew who put on the "show".......couldn't have been better.

I had the great pleasure of meeting new friends in the gruppe, and enjoying the carmaraderie of all of the guys I have met over the years....thank you.

And a very special thanks to Ray Crawford for letting me borrow his RGruppe 2.7RS spec. black beauty.....very sweet car, and the owner is a true gentleman.

    Regards,
    Eric Linden

I too would like to thank Roger for all of the work that he put in for the weekend and the time that he puts in for the Rgruppe in southern California.
Thanks also for making a northern California member feel like part of the southern gruppe. It was a pleasure to meet so many of the southern Rgurppe and 911S members.

    Eric,

It was great bumping into you in Ventura, even if just for a brief moment. From having spent my whole life around the PCA and Registry scene up north, I've learned how much the "club" extends beyond the vehicles and into the personal. The Porsche world is small, and even down here I run into people all the time that I had met at events in the past.

Hold on to one of those McQueen jackets for me, when you get the next shipment.
