    trying to decipher an engine number

    hello, got these numbers on the right hand side of the fan. 901-01 2361 and *902461* can anyone give me some info?

    That looks to be a Type 901/01 from later 1965 production. Originally 1991cc w/ Solex carbs, 130 DIN HP, 9.0:1 compression ratio. Correct for chassis numbers 300236-303390. Check this table.

    After so many years, unless you know the history of the engine, there is no telling how it may have been rebuilt in the past. The numbers stamped on the case may have no bearing on the internal components anymore. The early aluminum cases are a favorite for hotrodders.
