    Seat Belts for 1969S -

My 69S is currently set up with track seats (these are for sale by the way) and I am in the process of trying to get the car back to a daily driver configuration. I am going to install a set of Nurburgring seats and need to figure out what to do about seat belts. I would like to use standard 3 point belts. Were the original belts retractable 3 point belts like in modern cars? Any suggestions of what belts to use?

    Thanks.

    seat belts

the seat belts in my 69S are non-retractable, and hang on a small hook located under the rear quarter window trim. i think the retractable belts became available in 70 or 71?

    Ditto with my all-original 69S.

Yes, but the "buckle" with the red release lever does not attach to the belt as in the picture, but rather bolts to a bracket which bolts to the floor (I think) under the seat. You would need the bracket to complete the assembly. I think you could attach the bracket under/to your new seats, but not certain.

Yeah those seat belts in the Evilbay pic looks wrong. My 70's receiver is attached to the sport seat frame. Same with standard Recaros. Retractables were optional starting in 72 I think.

I replaced my original 3 point belts with more modern retractable belts. The comfort difference is HUGE. Plus, I feel safer. But then total originality was never my goal.

    69S Belts

I have owned my 69S for 24 years.

Build date 4/1/69 (yes I know it was April fools day)

When I got it, it had retractable belts. I believe these were correct because the car had a special thread in the belt webbing which matched the original color of the car (orange).

Seat configuration is sport seat drivers side and regular seat passenger. Houndstooth inserts. Confirmed with second owner.

No mention of this on the cert.

Like many things Porsche, all things are possible.

My '71 did not have retractable belts, nor does it have any place to bolt them to the body. The shoulder belt went to the B pillar. The lap belt was on the seat frame, latch and all.

I have a 69S targa with retractable belts, and it's on the Kardex, Cardex, Certificate of Authenticity....or whatever you would like to call it.....
