Thread: new radio location

    new radio location

I have my interior just about finished. I want to keep the dash radio free, keeping the radio delete plate/sticker. See attached photo. I am looking for a different place to locate the radio, using a wireless remote. Anyone else put the radio in the glove box, trunk, etc?? Pictures please.
P.S. I know the delete plate means no radio, listen to the 2.2 scream like a banshee. However, its nice to have tunes for the road trips.
    Thanks

My plan is to put one under the seat, I am thinking of getting a sony and using there remote (unsure of name) to change the volume and station when needed. I plan to mount the remote between the seats with some velcro.

Man, I just love that red dash Ray. Is that instructional decal new?

Glad you like the dash Jens, appreciate the complement. The delete plate/ IROC sticker is a few months old. I placed it there for the GAF. I was selling them for 5.00, still have a few in 901 and 915 style.

I built a self contained box that sits on the rear seat (when the backs are down). It has two speakers, 2 headphone jacks, an am/fm receiver with cd player and an antenna buried in the box. It is connected to power via a blaupunkt quick disconnect. That way, when I unhook the plug, I stick the plug under the seat fabric and everything looks like it is 1973 all over again. Of course when I take it out, I loose all of the radio pre sets. I control it with a IR module that I mounted between the seats using one of the parking brake handle mounting bolt. It's covered in a grey felt that almost matches the original grey exactly. If I can get my kid by the house some day, I'll have him take some digitals.

Thanks for the tip. I saw your system, out of your car, at Rennsport II.
I remember thinking it was a cool setup. I wish I paid better attention to it

Please post photos when you can.

    Thanks,

Any chance you could take some close up pics of your radio delete plate and sticker?

How is the plate mounted? Did you affix the plate - then apply the sticker?

As others have said, your dash setup is seriously cool...

    IROC Sticker and Plate

    Obrut,

    THANKS for the complement!!

On my car, the sticker is placed directly on the dash material. No cut out when I had the reupholstry of the dash strips.

The IROC Sticker is sized to fit directly on the radio delete plate, as per the IROC Porsches. Not sure on how the delete plate fits in the dash.

BTW: I still have a few for sale, 901 and 915 style. The price has changed $10.00...
