    avon cr6zz: Good or Bad?

anybody out there has experience using Avon sr6zz hard compound on the street? They are the closest thing I have been able to find to the original 185/70x15 tires for the early 911's and I am wondering what their street (not track) performance is in less than agreeable circumstances (rain etc) and if they make more or less noise than other tires.

I don't know about the Avons, but according to http://www.vredestein.com/autobanden...ID=6&MenuID=14 Vredestein makes its "Sprint Classic" in both 165HR15 and 185/70HR15.

An O series car with 4.5" rims should be fitted with 165 x 15 tyres

I realise that 165's were original equipment up untill 68. MAybe I should have said that I am considering fitting larger fuchs to be able to fit the 185/70 15's which were fitted 69 and up. I have been told the early 6 inch fuchs with 185/70 15's should fit on O models without a problem. That though I am trying to get feedback on through another thread I started.

While I'm delighted that Vredestein makes H rated tires in the old sizes, I have no experience with them. Maybe someday I'll get 165HR15s.

But, if you're intentionally going to a size that's non-original for your car, why not look at the W speed-rated, N homologated (Porsche approved) 195/65ZR15 Pirelli P6000?

195/65R15s are easy to fit on the old cars, still look fairly original, and should give better handling than a 185/70R15.
