RS Flares with stock early bumper - can it be done?

Has anybody ever fit the stock early car bumper with RS flares?

I must admit my car is in that current configuration until I can perform massive surgery on my aftermarket RS rear bumper that doesn't fit. The body shop who installed the RS flares repositioned the stock rear bumper to meet the flare. It looks "okay" but not the final solution IMO.

Here's a side view. Sorry doesn't show from the back.

    Bill,

... sure, lots of people have done this... but it doesn't look right...

    This is what's-up...

The RS, or SC flare contour starts to diminish as it travels back and down towards the rear bumper... However, at the point of the fender/bumper seam the RS and SC flare still hasn't diminished to the point where the flare and the bumper are flush.... Therefore an RS bumper widens out at it's top to meet the bottom of the RS fender (The stock bumper doesn't widen at all)

    This accomplished by:
    1. Buying the correct RS bumpers that widen to meet the flare... or
    2. Having a body shop section, stretch, and fill to widen your stock bumpers to meet the Flares.

    Hope this helps...

Thanks Guys - that is kind of what I figured. I am in the process of taking the 69S / RS close I just picked up back to a more stock look. I jusr bought a used front bumper that seems to fit pretty good, but needs lots of cosmetic help and paint. I was just mulling over the rear and was curious. The rear RS bumper I have on the car now was done very well, so it is probably best not to mess with it.

I need to loose the 74+ rear end of my car. I want a 'glass rear bumper for a narrow body car. Who do you fellas recommend for the best quality and ease of installation. My 71 has the big red 'Porsche' reflector bar across the back with incorrect bumperettes and all....this stuff must go.

    ZCAT,

From a purely technical perspective, you need to post more pics.
