Thread: Classic car Insurance?

    Classic car Insurance?

Can anyone recommend a good agent or company for our early cars? Also, what is a typical premium (good driver, 3-5K/yr)?

    Thanks

Chris, I've been with a few of them, and Hagerty is the one I have now, and like the best. Your policy premium will depend on agreed value(s) of car(s).

I just switched to Hagerty from Leland West...Leland West didn't want to insure for the value I wanted...and since I have turned down serious offers for the value I wanted,I didn't feel I was being unreasonable. Hagerty had no problem about the stated value. Sorry Leland West, your $500 deductable didn't bother me. It was an additional enforced through stated value 'deductable' of $10,000 that I had a problem with!

Paul, I had the same problem with Leland West. They were giving me grief on the value of 356 SC CAB...I switched, and Hagerty has been a pleasure.

I switched from Leland West to Grundy... so far so good

Thank goodness I've not had to service my policy with either...

I am getting insurance from Hagerty. $25,000 stated value, no deductible for collision or for comprehensive, 100/300 liability, 5K miles per year, I can drive it to work. $175 annually. Not bad.

There are people who have had claims with Hagerty and are still with them. Do a search on Pelican for Hagerty, and you'll see.

does hagerty provide road side service (towing)? i have recently been questioning my $750/yr policy with liberty considering these very LOW cost policies. i haven't switched because i have heard hagerty does not permit the car being driven to work. for the most part my car is a fair weather driver/commuter and would hate to have a "weekend only" policy. plus my policy includes towing.

    Bob:

If I remember correctly, Hagerty includes flatbed towing with the policy, but there is a limit to the number of times a year. Also, they do allow you to drive the car to work from time to time. They just want you to verify to them that you have a regular "daily driver" as well. Tom's comment holds. If you have another car as a daily driver, then you won't necessarily drive your classic every day. They verify this by having you send them a copy of your current policy.

Tom, nice to know you're a Hagerty agent...just in case the unthinkable happens. Dunno why I was so attached to Leland West...after all, the only communications we had was when I'd send the renewal checks & fill out their forms...
