Part# Help: MFI Oil Return Line - Hose

Can anyone with a parts book tell me the Part# for the rubber hose that carries the return oil from the MFI back to the engine? It's for a '73S (not sure if that setup changed, it appears not from the MFI resource book on-line). It has hose clamps on either end, but the hose is rubber.

    Tom,

You are the best! The intake line is brand new. The return is weeping. The guys at EASY told me yesterday that the part is 'unavailable'. I'm going to call around, so having the part # is necessary. Thanks again.

If anyone has a source, I'd sure appreciate it.

I did already. Unless someone has some laying around, its no longer orderable from Porsche.

I walked into my local P Mechanic's shop (after an unsuccessful trip to Kragen and Kohlwiess auto parts), and he had a box of different diameter lines. We found a match (11mm) and he sold me a foot for $4 so I've got extra.

So, while re-installing the hose (it's a tight fit), the metal line that heads down into the oil pump turned sideways. It looks like it just sits into the pump housing adn had some kind of sealer to keep oil from leaking. As mine turned, the sealer (looked like a wax gasket/washer) cracked. I'm sure it'll leak now. DOes anyone know what thats made of, or is it a gasket?

Fixed one leak, now opened a new one, sigh! Can anyone help an incompetent rookie?

    Chris,

I think I know what you're talk'n about.... I think they used clear epoxy that turns amber in color from time and environment...

Or, maybe that's not what you're talk'n about at all...

    Take a pic bud...

    Chuck,

Yeah, it looks like an epoxy, amber to slightly greenish. Can you recommend a type? I'm guessing that thing gets hot with oil flowing through it. JBWeld?

Tom, it broke like opening a letter with a wax seal (didn't take much). Talk to my engine? Believe me, it's heard an earfull.

I'm going to pull the valve covers this weekend. I don't think Krieger ever did the break in adjustments. I've got good ocmpression all the way around, but it still smokes like a chimmney. Hopefully I just need to retighten the heads.

I'll leave the sledge hammer outside the Garage

    Chris,

Like Tom said, go with J-B Weld... That's what I used on all the rest of the case/cambox epoxy points...
