Thread: What are correct Cibie on hood driving lights?

What are correct Cibie on hood driving lights?

Anybody knows what the specs were of the Cibie on the hood driving lights which were fitted to the early cars? I have seen ones which are mounted on a swivel (one bolt system?) but also ones with a much larger chrome ring and the bottom flattened at an angle to fit straight on the hood with three bolts (no chance to adjust them anymore it seems...). Also where were they mounted? Most of the pics show tem on the hood, but I have also seen one or two where they are fitted just above the horngrilles on the wings.

The correct Pallas lamps are the flat bottomed ones. They can be fitted on the hood or above the horn grill.

thx Nick. Do they come in different lens sizes? What would be the proper ones for Porsche?

    Hi Nick,
I recently bought a set of the Cibie rally lights and am trying to decide where to mount them. I was leaning toward the hood rather than on the fenders above the horn grilles because the hood would be easier to change back and easier for wiring. Another htought was to buy another hood and mount them on the second hood. That way I could swap out whenever I wanted. Any thoughts thoughts on this?
By the way, I also have a nice set of Hella thru the horngrille foglights which I am thinking about mounting as well to complete the 911R "rally" look. Doing this might make the fender mounting area around the horngrilles a little too busy anyway.

If you are mounting the lights on the hood you will need to fitted a stay to hold the hood open as the extra weight of the lights will be too much for the standard gas struts.
