Never heard of them but they are near Ft. Wayne, IN which is about 2 hrs. away from me. I doubt Harvey W. or Al R. have anything to worry about in the way of competition from them.

    Gidday guys.

Just an observation from an outsider, as I have read many posts about AL Reed vs Harvey Weidman, I saw lots of cars at the German Autofest and asked lots of owners who had refinished their wheels. All of those who had Harvey do their work looked as close to original as is possible for a restoration and all still looked good and most who had Al Reed do the work were happy also however I don't think they are as close to original as Harveys. Some of the Al Reed wheels also showed signs of "blotchiness" in the anodising one in particular was quite bad.

If I was doing wheels it would be Harvey for me.

Hmmm, I had forgotton that place. Last winter, I was in Ft Wayne helping out the sales staff at our division over there and ran across this company while out making calls. Looked like an interesting place and I spoke to the manager, but never even thought about asking if they did Fuchs.

If my wheels mattered at all to me, I would get them to Harvey. The Fuchs wheel, as a signature feature of the Early Porsche, has to look right. Polished and powder coated don't work for me anymore (my opinion about my wheels ). That said tho', my Heidi hand polished a set of wheels on her Tangerine '73 2.7 Bastard, and it sure as hell didn't make the car any slower!!

When we were in Daytona for Rennsport II Harvey noted that almost all the wheels on the most significant Porsches of all time were done by him. That's not to say that others don't do good work, I just know his work is right.

I' like to see some of Transwheel's work in person, might be correct. Nick Moss is another source, photos of his work look spot-on. I just haven't had one in my hands.

Here's a photo of an NOS wheel with 500 miles. Harvey can and does do this level of quality.
