    Last weekend...

Last weekend I tried the ‘Short Track’ (the Streets of Willow) to see if I could do a little better then the ‘Big’ track 3 weeks before. I went out for only Saturday of the last POC ‘Short Track Series’ weekend of the year … and there was a pretty big turnout.

All and all it turned out to be a GREAT day for this old geezer…

I did a total of 29 laps…with two 10 lap, and one 6 lap practice sessions… then the 2 ‘timed’ laps at the end of the day… @ 1.75 miles pre - that’s about 51 miles at 10/10ths.

The old blue car ran flawlessly … the new engine did just as I hoped. I was a little faster on the straights … and allot faster out of slow turns.

I ended up beating my best by 2.5 seconds … and when the pressure was on, my best lap was my last lap. … And to top it off, of the 4 cars in my class… one broke down, one got hit (very rare on the small track) and one was slower … so, I won the class. The class win is something I will probably NEVER do again, when I increased to 2.7 it put me in a VERY fast class where the all out record is ANOTHER 3 seconds off my new best !!! … So this trophy was indeed sweet… During the awards at the end of the day there were many who were wondering why that old guy had such a stupid grin on his face…

Thanks for indulging me guys .. Not many know about our OTHER lives…

    Thumbs up

Congrats on the win Chuck, I heard POC sold out with near 120 entries.
I spent last Saturday at SOW (w/o my car) just helping some buddies with their cars and doing a little intructing. SDR PCA ran the bowl CCW, very busy track, great for improving car control.

Yeah at SOW a fast/fresh 911, the white and red #44 (wide body 2100lb with driver and 300hp 3.6) was in the 1.24 range Saturday. Yeah R Gruppe member Richard Price had his "First" 911RS running very quick at SOW. R Gruppe member Hayden Burvill was fast too (1.30s Saturday) in his RS spec 2.7 narrow body, I got a great session shotgun with him as he tested his new disc brake kit that can fit inside 15 inch rims. Those new brakes really pin you against the seat harness! Fantastic stopping power, lap after lap!
I timed some of the Can Am cars in the 1.22s on the big track, FUN FUN to watch.
