    Calling headliner, aand SWB experts;

    Just acquired another 67S, and have some inquiries;
    Headliner, is a grey taupe color, and feels sort of felt like; Is this original or has it been replaced. My other 67, has the typical off white perforated type;
    Secondly; Ownership shows this as a 68S, but Chassis no. corresponds to 67S type of numbering; Also,door handles are the 68 style; So is this a 67, or a 68?

    Thanks;

    Peter,

    Never seen a felt type headliner in all the early cars I have seen.....probably a replacement.

    Door handles....well, if you were at the end of the 67S run, you MIGHT have gotten a changeover handle.

    I owned the second 69S targa built.....the car was ALL 69, not a single 68 item on it. It was completely original, paint, interior, etc.

    Regards,
    Eric

    There are many differences between the 67 and 68 models
    Instrument: 67 has green lettering, 68 is white
    Heater lever: 67 is in front of handbrake, 68 alongside
    Steering column: 67 has support running to trunk floor, 68 doesn't
    Door trims: 67 has a single pocket running from front to rear, with a hard "bow" on the back third and smooth trim, 68 has short pocket below armrest and basketweave trim
    Door handles: you know about
    VINs are quite different: 67 is 6 digits, 68 is 8 digits beginning 118......
    Your headliner sounds wrong, my 68S has perforated beige

    Many times during registration the car will show to be a later car than it was. I had a 60 coupe that had been reg. as a 62...it was bought as new in 62 for some reason...If the VIN shows 1180.... its a 68 if it is 30....S than its 67. If its a late 308...S car could have the new type handles as this was a safety item and I bet Porsche wanted to implement it asap. taupe headliner...nope never seen it!
