    Calling headliner, aand SWB experts;

    Just acquired another 67S, and have some inquiries;
    Headliner, is a grey taupe color, and feels sort of felt like; Is this original or has it been replaced. My other 67, has the typical off white perforated type;
    Secondly; Ownership shows this as a 68S, but Chassis no. corresponds to 67S type of numbering; Also,door handles are the 68 style; So is this a 67, or a 68?

    Thanks; Peter Aziz in Toronto

    Grey taupe felt headliner definitely wasn't original. It left the factory with the off-white perforated material like your other car.

    If your car has the 1968 door handles, it's a 1968. If your car has black-face gages instead of green-face gages, it's a '68. Also, the '68 U.S. models had unique front side reflectors installed for that year only.

    Congrats on your find.

    what kind of history did you get with the car ?

    do you know how many owners there have been, with a car this old anything and I mean anything could have been done to it, is it possible that a very late 67 car received 68 handles, with porsche anything is possible we know that at the end of production runs when they ran out of the old parts they just started using the new stuff, in mid 67 they went from an all metal rear view mirror to a plastic backed one then in 68 they went to the brake-a-way style so they were making a lot of changes in that time frame for the 68 year D.O.T. made them make many changes such as all seats had to have headrests all the knobs went to a soft rubber and of course smog control which is why the 68L was introduced to the line, but on the other hand someone may have just replaced the doors at some time in the past for rust issues or maybe an accident as for the headliner I'd say someone just got creative.

    1968's have other one year only features, like the rear view mirror, which is the break away type, the 67 would have a chromed mirror. There are also some other things like the dashboard and teh door panels, which have a unique under arm rest pocket.

    Besides the side markers, US cars also had a plastic covered vent handle, but since no 1968 Ss were imported to the US, these would not apply.

    If chasis number however doesn't start with 118xxxx, then it's probably a 67, regardless of what is on the car and what the papers say.

    Headliners ans SWB experts

    Ok fellows I concur; Pretty well all things point to this car, as being a 67, but the ownership, door handles, and the headliner, got me wondering; I believe this car is a 67, no matter what the ownership says;
