saw this on an ad for sale and want to know if any early cars ever came with the steel wheels painted or the owner did it out of boredom? Thanks TFM

Special Wishes would do anything...
...but I'd have to say that that 'wish' doesn't seem very 'special.'
I'd say it's boredom.

What? A German video about me and my car - Huh? The website for my two-car garage
Jeez Tom, back in the eighties the factory would even make a Turbo Cab with the lights cut off and paint it candy apple red
BTW, where DO you find all these nice looking cars?

I assume the owner had the wheels sprayed when she got the car repainted.
I remember seeing that picture, as those will stuck in my mind. Was it on Pelican?

It was listed on EBay in the Santa Cruz, CA Area. I toyed with taking a look but, couldn't manage the time.

The car has 177,000 miles , not 100,000 as shown on e-bay.The shop that did the rebuid is no longer listed in the phone book and the owner did not know anything about the PMO sticker on the rear deck lid or what kind of carbs it has.Nice looking and great color,but------------TFM

I have never seen Porsche Steel Wheels painted the body colour before...they have always been painted a silver colour....
Ohhhh Yeah...I almost forgot...painting the Steel Wheels the body colour smacks of something the R Gruppe would find appealing....but I truly wonder if they would actually carry out the deed in that they would think that the paint would add too much weight to the car.....

I did find the shop listed on yahoo yellow pages or something like that although I didn't call them. It sounds like there are a couple of spots where rust is coming up thru the paint. Otherwise sounds pretty nice.
Well, whatever the car is or isn't, I like the look. The stainless trim rings and hubcaps with the yellow wheels looks great! It's nice to see something a little creative. A period interpretation.
