OT: Racing The 25 Hours of Thunderhill

Over the last couple of years I've shared my 'learning to race' exploits here and have appreciated the support and encouragement from everyone. Always one to bite off way more than I can chew, it's time to go race the 25 Hours of Thunderhill with a bunch of other Porsche nuts.

To keep overall running cost down the weapon of choice for the event is a 1992 Spec Miata. Drivers will be myself; Rod Emory of the famed Emory Motorsports and an outstanding vintage Porsche racer and budding star of Grand Am in a GT3 Cup car; Chris Ridgeway, Rod's GT3 co-driver and Paul Gaudio another outstanding 356 vintage racer.

Crew support will be provided by the Emory Motorsports racing team and our lovely wives who will be staying up all night to feed us.

The race will be held Dec. 4-5 at Thunderhill in northern California. So far 60 cars are registered with around 15 Miatas (a great little race car BTW). Last year 4 of the top ten finishers were Spec Miatas.

Read Car and Driver's article here.

Here are a couple of shots from our warm up race - The 8 Hours of the Cascades last month in Portland.

I will post a race report after the event.

Good luck, Mark! I hope all goes well for your team. You've got to be a glutton for punishment to do a 25-hour enduro!
