So, that would be something like $3000 USD? I'm not financially gifted. That's a bunch.

$3k is a reasonable price. Genuine factory ducktails are very, very scarce....and they fit perfectly!!

I missed it by 53 Euro , but my wife was elated.

That is the nicest AL frame Ducktail I have seen for sale. The latch brace is totally intact. The owner sent me additional photos which confirm it is indeed an original RS Ducktail. Herr Schmidt tipped me off on what to look for to help determine originality with this part. There should be a small rectangular, flat piece of metal spot welded to the inside of frame where the screws for the rubber lightweight tie downs are screwed into. It is a little hard to see but this tail has them.

In this photo the seller has outlined the wrong thing it is the smaller piece of metal inside the frame.

Interesting pricing trends lately on both cars and parts.

I've bought 2 original ducktails in the last 18 months. The total cost for both was less than this one sold for.

I bid on the glass top gearshift knob that the same seller was also offering and was outbid at just over $200.

Ahh - the ever-elusive Schmidt is right - always.
