There was a 57 or 58 356 on ebay a couple of years ago that was battery powered. If I recall correctly it was setup back in the 50's by GE.

    Thumbs down not the first

There was a company in Detroit back in the seventies that did the same thing with the Cobras. They had EFX as the vin code # as opposed to CFX and thought they would work with batteries because of the metal frame and aluminum skin. That idea died also!

I dont understand. It was already emissions exempt

    Serious question:
Would a transplant like that into a later car fail smog becuase of the visual inspection?

All kidding aside. That was a lot of work and it looks like a clean install. Nice job!

If I had to pick the lesser of all evils performed on a 911, I'd prefer the Subaru engine conversion over this creation. Weight, balance, performance... it has to count for something.

How to rev-up an electric 911

    This is easy:
    From our slot-car days:

    1. Take about 1/3 of the windings off the armature
    2. Put better ball-bearings in the motor
    3. Use 48 volt batteries and limit usage to 15 minutes

Then we could cruise for unsuspecting Prius owners to dust!
