Thread: Retrifitting a parking brake ssembly w/ choke lever onto a 67 911?

Question Retrifitting a parking brake ssembly w/ choke lever onto a 67 911?

    Guys,
I saw an early 911 handbrake choke assembly on EBay and was thinking about using it to on my 67 911 as a choke mnechanism for cold starting. Wondering if anyone has done this on their SWB? From what I remember, the choke lever simply increases the idle on the MFI so you don't have to keep your foot on the peddle until the engine is warmed up. Isn't that about right?
If so, anyone know how difficult it would be to run a cable to the carb's which does the same thing?

Not sure about the configuration of the SWB fast idle control (none?), but on LWB cars, it's just a friction lever on the parking brake assembly that pulls on a collar clamped onto the throttle cable in the tunnel below. Should be the same for both carbs or MFI.

It might be a matter of increasing the opening around the parking brake assy. to accomodate the late parking brake assembly (and throttle lever). Not sure about the mounting pattern, geometry, length and attachment points for the parking brake cables. You can refer to a parts catalog and see the common/different part numbers.

    Hope this helps a little,
    Sherwood

    Do it!

I have installed the fast idel lever on both my SWB cars...makes warm up a bit easier. This is not a choke assbly though. Webers do not have a choke...
