    Need corner balance help...

    All,
Any ideas on who I could talk to about getting my '68 911 race car corner balanced?

I live about 2.5hrs northeast of L.A....so going anywhere in L.A., or further south to San Diego, (or anywhere else within reach of a "day's tow") is not a problem.

    Anyone? any recommendations? suggestions?

Thanks - and Happy Holidays to all
    cheers

I've had wonderful service from Steve Alarcon as well.

Assuming we're talking about the same thing, I've also done 2 cars myself. What I did may not have been as thorough as you need, but I used a friend's wheel scale and just tweaked the front torsion bar adjustments to get the front and rear side-to-side weights equal (with a person in the driver's seat) . It takes me about 30 minutes including all the fumbling, assuming the ride heights are about right to begin with.

The wheel scale was a very simple device that "lifts" the wheel by hooking under the rim at 12:00. You don't even jack the car up. I don't know where one would buy one of these things today, but I suspect any racer's shop would have one.

You may be referring to the hydraulic weight load checker sold by Speedway Motors.

You can get add'l info here

If you use this, I suggest fabricating a block conforming to the radius of the wheel to prevent the lift device from digging into the wheel (undesireable for Fuchs).

    Hope this helps,

That's the one! And yes, I made up a stiff pad to protect the wheel.
