    Oil leaks at pulley area

    Hi all,

I am back with my new 2.2 T ... and little problems.

    Look at the attached picture.

    Check the following:
    1. Intermediate shaft cover. Held on by 3 6mm studs with 10mm nuts.
Often leaks, has a seal under it, not very hard to replace.
    2. Rubber O-ring on #8 main seal is leaking. Split the case to repair, many
try to repair with epoxy etc. around the aluminum bearing as it comes through the case, probably won't work.
    3. Not as likely but sometimes the sump plate leaks and if the oil works backwards to the back of the case and soaks that area. Again, not as likely
but you might get lucky and that's it.

Shine a flashlight down the rear motor mount housing and look at the base of the fan pulley. If it's dry, it probably is the intermediate shaft cover, if it's wet, either live with it or split the case to repair.
    Good luck.
