1952 Porsche motorhome. Anyone remember it?

It was apparently based on the engine and running gear of a pre-A 356 and was for sale at a Las Vegas VW event back in the 1980s. Ring any bells with anyone? Oh, it was up for $2400

Who was the Coachbuilder. Was it Porsche as well?

Now that would have to be one of the coolest things you could take to the track for hanging at the pits.

I've always considered the glass to be half full...that is until I reached middle age and realized that it is actually half empty.

    Porsche Motorhome

Ha! I remember it... saw it @ Pomona. I also have pics of it and was just showing them to some friends.... It was a driving, reliable motorhome! ;-) . I went inside and have some pics of the interior and dash (six gauges). The speedo looked like a VW gauge, had a clock... and a tach. The tach looked like it was from a Ghia Type 1 , Ghias also have a clock... this motorhome is a '52?? (I didn't think that it was that old, didn't know the year)... I think that the first Ghia was '55 or '56. FWIW, the early Ghia tachs were not mechanical (no cable drive) and this was before transistors... they (early Ghias) had a cable drive off the crank pulley which drove a generator (two wires went to the tach). I didn't look at/see if their (P motorhome) eng had a crank pulley-cable driven-generator for the tach. The eng was inside under a cover, available light wasn't very good (no flash). The large, center rear window popped out (hinged @ the top) like the VW Safari windows/early Fords ('28-'30).
    Sorry no scanner....
