Thread: does rallye exhaust (3 tip) add power or not?

does rallye exhaust (3 tip) add power or not?

In my search for the right muffler for my 67s I have also talked to some people about the 3 tip rallye exhaust (muffler) possibility, the muffler which came with two metal caps to shut the twin pipes when noise regulation was necesary. Not everyone believes the exhaust actually does anything for a 67 2.0 911s ..... I am really curious, you would expect a muffler like that to perform like OE with 2 pipes closed and like a sports muffler with the additional pipes open. Does anyone at the forum have experience with them and shed some light?? Oh and by the way, does anybody know if they are still produced (maybe in ss?).

Can't vouch for the power increase claims but they are still available from various outlets.

Autofarm here in the UK for example (but I'm sure you could find some nearer to home) :

This is one of their 3-pipe silencers (mufflers) sitted to Keith Seume's (KS on this board) '74 2.7 Euro Carrera 'hotrod'.

I just installed a 3-tip silencer from AutoFarm on my car,
3.2 litre on Weber 46's. It makes a big difference with the through pipes "uncorked" both in sound and speed. No official tests were conducted, just my humble driving to come to this conclusion. Don't know if a 2.0 litre would have as much benefit in speed but the sound is.......fruity (that means it's good).

It should help. Stock muffler is restrictive at high revs. Megaphones make a big difference on a 2.0 S but much too loud for the street.

    Hi,

You may find some answers to your question here:

You can start reading from the beginning, or jump to page three (I think) to get some info. on different mufflers.
