    67S, what color?

    Here's a question.
    I'm repainting my 67S. Right now it's all stripped down, rust free and ready to go. My first thought was to go with the original color, Sand Beige. But now I'm wondering if thats the way to go. Sand is not a real exciting color. Now no matter how much I like the car, and no matter what I think just now I know that somehow cars always get sold in the future to make way for more cars.
    So the question is should I repaint it the original Sand or go for another 67 color in something a bit more upscale, blue, yellow, polo red, black?
    I am partial to the sand, but is it to everyones taste? What do you guys think?

    I'd keep it Sand Beige... done right it's subtlety spectacular!!!

    Rick Cabell and I saw one at Rennsport last year that took are breath away... no kidding...

    Tom,
    I had the same dilemma 2 years ago when restoring my 67 911. My car was originally light ivory and I loved irish green. As you alreay know, resale value would be higher if you stick with the original color. And since you have an S, the resale value could be significant. If you plan to keep the car for more than a few years and are less concerned about your profit/loss at the end of the day, I would go with a color you like but still something original for the year. The most popular color of the day was light ivory with more than 25% painted light ivory. Second most popular was polo red.
    The one good thing is that because all SWB's came with a black trunk and engine compartment, any color change will not be as invasive as a full body apart engine out, electricals removed that would be necessary on any newer car.
    One thing I will say though is that after having an irish green car for a few years, I have started to warm back up to light ivory. Who knows, maybe next time I will go back to light ivory. Most important is the quality of the paint job. If it's really nice and the car is clean, you will no trouble finding eager potential buyers if/when you ever decide to sell.

    Keep the Sand Beige!

    I posted this exact problem not too long ago. My 67S is also sand beige and in the throws of the restoration process.

    I reached the conclusion that I am leaving her sand beige. I had to agree with some of the opinions I received on this board that there are plenty of red, silver, black and other cars already out there. Sand beige is a true period correct color. I bought the car because I enjoy the early S cars. Why not keep it an early S color?

    Let compare notes some time!

    Mmm, sounds like I'm seeing some support for the sand. I have to admit I like the color. It may be a bit boring, but so am I. Actually I've got the book "Porsche 911 Road Cars" by Dennis Adler and it has a pic of a early 911 in Sand and I have to admit it does look pretty good. I'll have to think about this.

    Yes, by all means let's compare notes. I'm mostly a LWB 69-73 guy. This is my first really early project and I know I have ALOT to learn. Any pics of your car yet?

    In 1980, I had a Sand Beige 1966 912 which I repainted the original color and absolutely loved the color. Subtly classic...

    67S sand beige

    I have a 67 S with 50,000 original miles,totally original,original concours quality paint in its original sand beige,Chuck is right it's spectacular. I have a pick of over 12 early cars.this is the best looking
