    Stuck Glove Box

This is a little ridiculous . 2 years ago I bought a '73 S Targa out of Dallas and stored it immediately. I saw the car for a grand total of about 2 hours. Now it's out of storage and I've come to discover the glovebox is stuck. The knob turns, but the door won't swing open. I've used judicious force with no luck. I have no idea how the problem developed. Any ideas on what to do? Can I get in from the backside?

perhaps the backing nut is loose? If so, pull outward, and keep turning. With luck, you'll be able to back off the nut, pull the entire assembly out.

I just went through this with my '73. I had to take the glove box out and the door off to get it open. The retaining strap/relevant nuts and bolts are relatively easy to spot if you stick your head under the dash. Once I got the door off I found that a little pot metal pin in the locking mechanism had broken off. I picked up a used knob/lock mechanism from dcautomotive for $8 and installed it. I still need to get it rekeyed so that I can lock the glove box, but I can at least open the door now. Let me know if you need more info on how to get this done.
