new engine done - the end of 4 figure repairs!

    cross posting from pelican:

my 68L received an engine transplant this weekend which HOPEFULLY marks the end of the 4 figure repairs.

so keeping the following in mind:
    1 street driven car
    2 no substitute for displacement
3 buy the best engine you can afford
    4 SWB
    i opted for a 2.7S.

i bought it as a long block which was rebuilt by the well respected and talented Tom Amon of Mobile Works West (a 30 year veteran who literally brings his shop to your doorstep). the 40 IDA carbs were rebuilt and rejetted, intakes bored out, and dist recurved. a 2.7 oil tank was adapted. SSIs and and dansk sport muffler were fitted. various bits and pieces were powder coated but mostly spray painted. finally, R rainshields literally topped everything off.

all in all it's a very fun engine perfect for my needs and most of all budget. the gruppemeister took it for a spin and gave it two thumbs up.

Looks great Bob, very nice details on the motor!

Did you paint your shroud? I'm getting ready to pull my motor for a burned valve and want to do something to fix the faded out green shroud while it's apart.
