    911's door question ?

    Hi,

Could you tell me if this door is allright to have its contour paint in black (or gummy ?) ?

In that case, what would be the reference number of this color ?

Would there be somebody who would have exactly the same thing on his 911?

The black border paint on the door is correct.

Looks like Gold Metallic - code 144. The paint number should be on a small square plate on the forward vertical part of the driver door jamb.

Are you considering a purchase? I see some significant rust issues.

    Hi,

No it isn't a purchase, just an inquiry about it.
I'm looking for the reference number of the black border paint.
This car was presented in a previous thread, here. I can find it again.

Jared, tell me more about the black border paint. What years, why, etc. First time I've heard of it or seen it.

    Yes,

That black door paint is supposed to be there. At least it was on all my early 911's and 912's I've had. It's also present on my current 70 911S.

I've seen it on a several cars - including mine (which has had an exterior respray, but all inner paint is original). It's brushed on - I doubt there's a code for it.

Not sure what the function is - I'm sure someone here knows more than I.

Matt Black - Boyer's right. I always thought it was for esthetics - for a cleaner look between the door panels and the door itself.

Another area that is blacked out is the space behind the horn grills, IIRC.
