Thread: New Muffler

    New Muffler

I'm going to be needing a new Muffler for my 2.0 S soon, and thought it might pick your Porsche brains on your experiences with getting a new muffler.

I would like to go as stock as possible. Are these available from the factory (don't think so)?

Where would you recommend I buy one? What kind?

Are there any significant power improvements I could expect from a non stock muffler?

    Thanks
    Henry

i would find a liestritz which is original to your car. i sold my freshly ceramic coated liestritz for around $200 so that should give you an idea.

you know they pop on ebay and pelican. i would call all the salvage shops like EASY - 510 653 EASY. plan on getting it ceramic coated considering it will be "crusty". that cost me $100. i would ck to see if the shop has a color called "titanium gray".
here is mine before i installed a duel dansk which is not tit gray - live and learn.

i gave up a perfectly good liestritz that was just ceramic coated for the duel dansk. i do like it for the noise factor alone. puts a smile on my face everytime. didn't notice any performance gains.

    Exhaust

    Henry :

Take a look at Bursch Exhaust's , seems that they have some HP gains , I have one in my 912 and have worked fine the last 2 years . Also Sebring & Dansk .

Take a look at Performance Products , Tweeks, Parts Heaven , Classic & Speed Parts or your latest Excellence Mag.

    Good Luck.

I opted for a Danske sport, single out, stainless. It has a bit more rasp than a stock replacement, which I enjoy, and has a stock look. There is a claimed performance gain of 5 hp, but I am rather cynical. But if you add a couple of horses here, and a couple there, they will soon add up. But with this incremental approach it is doubtful, you will notice a gain.
