Removal of Wiper Motor and linkages

Well, I though removing all of the fasteners would be enough to get this out but there appears to be more to this then I thought.

Can anyone give me the hint required to maneuver this out from underneath the dash? Do I have to separate the motor from the linkage?

Any help would be much appreciated.

There is a strap which is bolted to the wiper motor and also to the metal under the dash that holds the wiper motor in place. You will have to seperate it in the middle or remove the dash to get at the top of it!!! Its a pain.

I'm sure you've already done it...but if not...be sure to disconnect your batteries before trying to get the wiper motor and linkage mechanisms out. If it inadvertantly cycles on while your hand is up in there it's very powerful and can do serious damage to you. Good luck with this pain-in-the-rear task.

    Thanks for the tips guys.

I was able to get it out by undoing the motor fasteners and swinging it out of the way. Then the motor and the linkages could be lowered enough to remove it all from the car. I am not to sure if I will be able to install it in the reverse order so maybe I will figure out how the factory did it. I there must be a better way.

Good tip with the battery Richard. I am sure you could really hurt yourself if the motor were to actuate with your fingers in there.

    Best regards,
