any tips on how to restore dashboard swb?

I need to replace/restore my dashboard on my 67 911s. Currently it is covered by vinyl, actually not a bad job at all, looks like a real leather dash with stitching in the right places etc). However, in pursuit of something which looks a bit more authentic I am considering replacing/restoring. Replacing is not an option, that is, I have not been able to find a good dash to replace the old one with (any leads anybody?) Oh and pelican charges 1000 + for a new one (but it is 69 and on so not the good year). So restoring seems to be only way to do it. For this there are covers available, even OEM from Porsche (only 50 US$). The question is (before I rip apart what now looks as something half decent to end up with something horrible) does anybody have experience with restoring their dash with the Porsche cover (or any aftermkt dealer for that matter) and what has been the result?? I would be surprised if Porsches product would not live up to their reputation (meaning the dash would look tops), or am I too naive? Are there any pictures comparing the original product with covered ones?

    thx

Two options. First send it to HTTP://www.justdashes.com . There have been several threads about the quality of their work. It just takes them a few months to get it back to you.

Second, check out this site: http://www.leatherique.com/ . This looks very intersting. No affiliation or experience with either of them, just read numerous recommendations.

SWB dashes are upholstered. 2 pieces. 2 nuts (8 or 9mm I think) on the back side and clips in the front. Out in 10 minutes max.. Send it to Tony and get it back in no time. Piece of cake.

Be jealous you LWB owners 'cause your windshield has to come out. Arrrr!

Yeah I know THAT drill - good excuse to replace the windshield though... and WOW what difference!

Don't use the dash cover - you won't be happy and a 67S deserves better.
The upolstery jobs from the above mentioned look good from what I've seen.

Tom, that dash really does look great. Does Tony work his magic on other interior parts? My targa shelf and trim piece need bad help.

Fortunately, the rest of the interior is on the money and needed nothing. The dash was actually fine until Shawn "the stick" Hiligas took the car to AZ.
