    STEERING WHEELS- T vs S

I need a new steering wheel for my 73 S (the PO removed the original and replaced it with a nice Momo, but I want the original one back in).

I have a friend that has a NOS steering wheel that the PO of his 71 T gave him that he is willing to part with. It is leather, but is it a different diameter than the ones on the S's or were they all the same?

Same, Same. Leather wrapped 400mm standard on the S. Optional on the T.

According to the parts catalogue, the standard wheel for a '73 would have been a 400mm plastic wheel, but I would imagine the leather wheel was available as an option. The 380mm wheel was only used for the RS.

PS: If you decide not to go for your friend's leather wheel, I would love to have the opportunity to pick it up for my own restoration. Thanks!

    wheel

Porsche started cutting costs in small ways in 73' . Most North American 911S's were supplied with a foamed wheel instead of a leather wrapped unit.. Hard to tell the difference at first glance.. I boxed my and put in a leather wheel from 72'.

    Micheal,

Post the part # of the wheel and someone will know what your friend has.
