SWB bumper end caps - painted or steel???

SWB cars have steel bumper end caps on the rear bumpers. Were these painted to the color of the car, or did they come in polished steel?

I've spent the last hour looking at pictures, but this part never shows well in pictures.

    Thanks
    Henry

Polished - and they are better quality than the 69-73 ones.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but I was with a local 911 owner who insisted they had to be primered and painted to the color of the car.

I'm not 100% sure if they were polished or if they were chrome plated. But I'd swear in court they were NOT body color...does anybody know when the rubber strips were added to the bumperettes?

According to Dr. Johnson, it was 1967....I'm not talking about bumperettes though....

My '65 has no bumper end caps, and doesn't appear to have any way to attach such things.

The swb rear bumper end caps...

were/are polished stainless steel and the front/rear bumperette rubber bits where first offered as an option in '67. See attached image of a normal 67 911 with that option. The bumper end caps are present but not visible from that pic angle. They are just behind the rear tires where the rear bumpers start.

These Were Never Painted The Same Color As The Car Polished Stainless Steel Was The Way It Was Done And The 69-73 Was Never Painted The Same Color As The Car Either And If You If You Have A Front S-spoiler First Introduced In 1972 It Didn't Come With Bumper End Caps At All (i Know Way To Much Info)
