Picture please- Rear Center Panel to Body Seal on early 911

    Hi,

I posted this on Pelican but didn't get a response. Maybe someone here can help.

I bought just about every seal available for my "rustoration", one of which was a rear center panel to body seal. My car didn't have one when it went to the shop, so when I started digging through my box of goodies, I wondered if I actually needed the part.

Can someone post a picture of the seal installed so I can see how it mounts and what it's supposed to look like.

    Thanks,

Do you mean the plate panel seals?

Thanks for the picture but that's not it. The following PET picture should help.

    Neil,

That one is hard to show on the car... you would have to remove the muffler, and then the pic would be taken in a very confined space...

However, you can take a pic of the seal installed on the back of the valance (panel) before the panel is installed.

Not sure if this helps... unless someone has a pic already, or is willing to take their panel off to take the pic.

    Chuck,

That helps actually. I had no idea where it really went since I never had one. I will attach it to the back of the valence panel.

Are the shims for the rear bumpers necessary, or there just to adjust the alignment of the bumpers?

Have never seen any shims on mine... but would assume you are correct, to help adjust.

FWIW, there are two shims (like silver cad plated flat washers) on each side of my car, lower part of the license panel where it meets the lower side piece...I can't see any shims on the bumperettes themselves. (edit) Perhaps this pic of my engine compartment can give you a clue how the seal is supposed to look when installed, thus a clue on how to intall it? Wider seal on top, a narrower strip sealing between the body and the plate frame. The license panel has never been off my car...so you're looking at a factory install..

    Thanks Paul and Chuck.

    Thumbs up

It just dawned on me how international this love of the early 911 is. Dallas, Texas...me in Oregon, Chuck in L.A., Dennis in Oz, and the pics I posted? They were taken by Evren when he was here. (I don't have a digital camera).
    Oh, Evren lives in Istanbul.
