    Wonderful photos

    And a great link Curt.

Just by coincidence, a friend of ours just traded (last week) a funky old 912 (with a NEW 912 motor) for a bunch of boxes of engine parts; a pick-up and trailer load. The trader didn't know what the engine parts were for and brought them by my friend's place for a look-see. He randomly grabbed six boxes and took them inside under the lights. Odd motor parts, intakes case pieces, flat fan..."HOLY CRAP!" he says under his breath as he makes the deal.

It is a 4.5 liter 12 cylinder 917 motor and damn near complete!!!! Traded for a 912!! UN-FUCHS-ING-BELIEVABLE.

    Shoulda been me...

    Pretty good Chuck, a 912 for a 912.

He was telling me about it and got to where he was putting the sample parts on the workbench when the light went on in his head-

"And you know what it is?" And I says, "C'mon, you're gonna break my heart aren't you?" And he says, "Break your heart?! I just about had a heart attack!"

I'm happy for him, but, jeeze...talk about the right time and the right place. Holy crap. Any guess as to what the beast is worth? (clue, whatever you're thinking, go higher)
