Same as mine... minus .3 of a litre, a wing, a decal set, wider wheels, an R, some chroma and about $160k! Funny how those things add up to a legend!

    Today's insanity

    Is tomorrow's genius.

Here's a thought... A friend of mine just turned down $300k for his 1959 Les Paul. Gibson made just under 2000 over three years and they retailed for $265 when new. This is an electric guitar folks.

Wow. I remember cringing when I saw '59 flametops selling for $75k 5-7 yrs ago. I bet there are more of these for sale now than were ever made.

I used to own an 8.5lb '58 reissue with Tom Holmes humbuckers in it that rivaled a real '57-'59. Im not kidding. Ive played it side by side with a real '59 and couldnt hear which was which. A Tokai Love Rocks will also rival a real '57-'59 tonewise with Tom Holmes pickups in it. No matter what, neither would ever ever be a real '58, but the tone from both was 'right'.

This restored lightweight just sold in the UK for around £135K (that's over $250K)

The subtleties of Gibsons with humbuckers has always been lost on me. But I've only ever played them through Fender amps. I think that's too much bottom end on top of dark bottom end. Love my Strat.

Okay, that's way way off topic but I thought I'd seize the opportunity to jump in on something I actually know a little about.
