Question Looking for gun metal Porsche script

    Hi all,

I'm looking for the gun metal 'Porsche' script for the engine lid. I've found chrome, black and gold, but where can I find the gun metal color??

Also: on a black 1972S, is the script supposed to be gun metal, black or.....?? My 911S script is gun metal now.

    Thanks!

Could this "gun metal" be just well aged black anodize?

I have two friends with a 77 and a 79 and their trim has turned to a pewter like colour. Looks quite nice really.

    Good luck.

I think I have one ..... or it could be an aged black anodized one as bob says, but I don't think so. If you give me your email, I'll email you a high resolution pic, where the color can be apreciated.

    Thumbs up

    Dennis,

I am sure you will find the 'gun metal" colour is simply well faded black anodised.

My 72 rear deck numbers, letters and engine grill have all faded that way. Adds that certain patena to the car. I wouldnt change them over if you dont really have to.

    I agree with Phil...

There's something about 'freshly restored' all dead black rear trim that just doesn't work for me...

The more aged the trim gets, the more the black turns from a purplish pewter grey to almost a brushed silver...

IMHO... that's the way it should look

    I'm with you!!!!!

I kind of like the faded, pitted, cracked and dull "luster" my aging paint has taken on.

My restored rims and interior just seem out of place compared to this more "mature" exterior. Guess I'll be forced to paint it to make things even out.
