It turns out my '73 S targa has a lot of leather in the (original) interior, not just the front seats. The rear jump seats are leather, as are the door panels. Is that standard for the option, or do I have something extra beyond the usual?

Hey Edwin....how's things?
You could get either front seats in leather, or an entire leather interior on the options list...
regards,
Eric
Edwin, an interior shot of my car, it is a '72 with the "full leather interior" option. The black is plastic...all the beige stuff is leather. You might check the insert strip above your knee pad. It is also leather if you got the "full leather" option. Sounds like that's what you have.

Paul, thanks for the picture. Do you have a shot of the back? The different colors make it so easy to see what is leather and what is vinyl .

Alas, no pic I can post...but the rear shelf immediately below the window is leather, the back seats are leather...well, it's easier to say that everything BUT the seat belt roller cover is leather..except, of course, the carpeting on the backside of the rear seat backs.

Hi Eric,
I just got a sample of the carpet Tony Garcia of Autobahn Interiors uses for '73 S cars. It is no doubt the same stuff Autos International uses. (By the way, Tony has never done any work for me, but he has been a pleasure to deal with on the phone. And he soon will be recovering my sport seats, putting in new carpet, and doing other interior work.) I am trying to be a bear for authenticity . Is what he has exactly the right stuff? From the same German company which supplied Porsche in 1973? Maybe my head is just spinning from all this talk about authentic houndstooth material.
Thanks,
Ed
