    Which Wheel Studs??

I am replacing the front wheel bearings on Kermit, and since I have some bunged up wheel studs, I figured that as long as I have the hubs off, I would replace all of the wheel studs with new ones, and get some new Black Alloy lug nuts.

What is the length of studs that I should order? I am using the "original" Fuchs. I believe my tires are 205 60R 15 (not sure if the 60R is right - I'll need to look when I go home.)

I have seen 45 mm, 52 mm and larger. Are the 45 mm studs correct for me?

And does anyone have experience with the anodized lug nuts? Have you found that the aftermarket ones are as good as the originals?

I want to get everything collected before I start.

Larry, I dunno the proper stud length. But a good shop should be able to tell you, once they know the wheels you are using. Now to the next question... Do you wish to use original lug nuts? Or, would you prefer the open faced steel lugs nuts that the track guys seem to prefer, because it allows tech inspectors to see exactly how many lug nut threads engage the lug studs? Ahhh, decisions, decisions...

Nope, I don't want the steel nuts that the track guys use. I want the black anodized nuts that came with the car.

Oh well, I guess that I will just have to pull a wheel tomorrow and measure. Add the depth of the wheel to the amount of the stud sticking out, and I should be really close.

    Wheel Stud lengths

    Larry,

The front studs are 45mm. The rear studs are 52mm, they go thru both the rear drive flange and the rear rotor.

If you are going to use longer studs be sure to use the correct spacing plates - (or open wheel nuts). You don't want the alloy nuts to bottom out prior to being tight.

    Bob:

Thanks. I ordered the 45 mm studs today for both front wheels.

To be truthful, I am a bit nervous about doing the front bearings and the studs. New activity, but this next weekend should tell the tale.
