    Motor number 901/06?

    Hi
I just bought my first Porsche 911 S 71, again. I sold it for 25 years ago, and now it is back in my garage again. Somebody exchanged the engine during the period i didnīt owned the car...
The engine is replaced by a new one with the motor family code 901/06. The strange is that the motornumber is *901305*. According the one book I have, that combination is unlikely. The engine is "sand molded" (swenglish) and have Weber carburators. Below the code 901/06 a for digit number is added in larger font than 901/06. It says 7558.
Any ideas of what kind of motor I have?
Is the combination of motornumber and motorcode OK?
Looking forward to all answers and ideeas.

    Best regards,

    Peter Thelin

901/06 is a sand-cast 2.0 litre 130bhp engine from '67 911 or '68 911L equipped with Weber 40IDA carbs but the engine serial number should be in the range 911001 - 912050 (or in the form 308XXX if a '68L).

901305 would be a serial number for a 901/01 engine built between Jan & June 1966 equipped with Solex carbs...

Could the number on your engine be 911305 ?
