    Momo adapter doesn't fit.

    I have a Momo wheel adapter for a Momo Elite wheel that I was going to put on my car (67)
    It is supposed to fit 356 B/C and 911's to 74.
    Part # MO 0230

    It doesn't slide on

    Do I have the wrong adapter or could it be defective ?

    Thanks for any help;

    John

    MOMO adapter

    Hello: You may have to file the splines on the steering shaft or the inside of the adapter to clean up any burrs. I've had to do this with the early hub adapters but not the later type.I use a small triangular file to do the job, it is the kind that comes in a Swiss file set. Good luck and take your time, it takes about 3 beers to do it. Thanks Eric

    momo beer

    John; You forgot that with one hand you must hold the hub and with the other the file. SO that means that you must drink the beer using your teeth to hold the bottle or can.For me it takes a little longer than 3 minutes because I don't like to spill any beer. Thanks Eric

    George;

    You already know what the wheel looks like - I certainly will post some pics of it in its new home.

    Eric - I didn't think of that no hand drinking method, now I bet I get alot more stuff done around here.

    John,
    Put alot of grease on the shaft before you try sliding it on. Also, make sure you line it up right before proceeding. I had to grease mine on both ends and work it on in small movements. It should be a nice tight fit; otherwise, you would end up with play in your wheel - and nobody wants that!
    BTW, it appears that GeorgeK had something to do with your wheel. If he worked on it, I would love to see a pic of the finished product too.
    With those Peter Z seats and the new sport wheel, you are going to really enjoy driving your car hard. I installed my Peter Z R seats and Momo Prototipo around 3 months ago, and the difference was astounding. No better upgrade for the money - unless you are lucky enough to get an early 911S engine for under $3k!!!

    By the way John, what did you end up doing about upgrading from the lap belts? Did you go with 4-5 point harnesses? If so, how did you mount them?

    Best Regards

    Garth;

    The wheel passed through the great wheel masters hands but it has the original leather in very nice condition. Amazing how light the wheel is.

    Also amazing how different your car looks now - from pure class with the houndstooth to KICK ASS !

    Aren't those seats fantastic - I hate to get out of them. I've been using the car almost daily but the weather now s*#! so am doing little love projects.

    please enlighten this student of steering wheels...what is the difference between the elite and the prototipo? I couldn't see much difference in the pic. They look similar to me...

    Prototipo is 350mm
    Elite 380mm, and has no "tabs" at the spokes

    I got the wheel on and if the sun comes out I'll post a pic.
