I hurled when I saw it... Nice original deep six wheels though
The golf club "hood prop rod" is a nice touch

Makes me wonder... if Porsche did build an early cabrio version along with coupes and targas - what would a mint, original, early S, factory cab go for?
Would it be the highest priced, most desired version... like 356s and later 911s???

Jared, pure speculation...but I still think coupes would rule. But hey, I live in Oregon, and it's been a wet week so far...

With no roof to provide structural support, I'd bet you could twist it into a pretty good pretzel in an autocross...

If ya look closer at that car, it has a lot going for it. It looks pretty cool considering it's the work of someone's creative genius and not that of the factory. If it sold for the current bid, somebody's getting a pretty rare (spelled odd) sled.

I've seen far worse early 911's than this one. It looks pretty well done in general (except for the gawd-awful mirrors, seats). Plus the targa-to-cabriolet version is a procedure that is outlined in a Porsche manual, so you can infer that the factory endorsed it.
Would it be any flexier than an '83-'89 cabriolet?
This one doesn't look bad, but the seller's statement about the "highly desireable (or sought after) CIS injection" PO'd me. With propaganda selling like that, I would not take a second look.

Prettier than the big bumper cars for sure. What would a real "early" 911 Cab be worth if they had made them? Rest assured that it would be a lot.
It's not the worst thing I've seen done and his "economics" are reasonable as a Targa of this vintage would have been a relatively cheap car in 1989 vs an '83 Cab.
