    Windshield replacement?

I found the old thread about windshields, where people quoted getting prices from Safelite of around $120-200. Safelite just quoted me over $600 for the front windshield of my '73 E, and said that they did not have one without shading. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I really don't want to spend $600 to replace the windshield (if I'm going to spend that much, the dealer is going to do it), but it has a large crack in it and I need to do something about it.

    Nick,

I got a PPG through Safelite for $112.14 outright (not installed) about 6 months ago...

It's green tint and blue shaded w/no late model metal rear view mirror tab to remove ... Part - #553117

It may not be period correct, but for THAT price I'm not complaining...

    Hope this helps,

    winshield

I got a windshield for my 1965 911 about 2 months ago from the Porsche dealer. It was clear glass with no shade band. I don't remember the price but it was reasonable. It had the mirror mount, but it was easy to remove.
