    Question Concours Question 1970

Judges Please, was there a plastic cover for the electrics board (switch unit)in the engine compartment on a 1970? I am getting conflicting info and defer to the experts please. If so, was it the first for the cover and if not what was the first yr. they were used. Was the cover unique for ea model yr. with different attachment points.

    Thanks

My 1970 with production number 50 has no cover and no obvious mounting locations for one.

I have 2 1970 S's. #683, and 1141, neither have the cover. The other 70's that I have seen, did not.

Maybe late in the model year?

    Switch Unit Cover

Was the mounting point then the determining factor? Was that mounting point welded to the top inside of the fender for the top wing nut, how do they attach. Thanks again

My '70 E does have one, BUT: It appears to have been put on as an afterthought. There is a square hole in the center with a bolt attached, that fits to a hole in the plastic cover, and is attached with a single wing nut. If you'd like, I can get a photo of the setup. I'm glad I have it, as I live on a dirt road.

1970 S Coupe #40, no cover in engine room. Has a fiberboard cover over front fuse panels in place.
