Isn't it odd that they keep showing the car with current Alex Job livery? Does it mean that these are sponsors arranged through the factory, or that Job will be involved with the Penske ALMS team? Job certainly has more current road racing/ALMS experience than Penske and would be a good team manager for this project.

Looking at the photos of Maasen and Luhrs they look tickled to finally be driving something that isn't production based. I think that the promise of driving prototypes is most likely the reason that they have stuck with Porsche for so many years.

I've wondered about the Job sponsors on the car too Jim. I've also thought that if Penske were bringing Marlboro money to the car, they may not want the paint scheme on the car yet so that the shots car run unfiltered in Europe for tobacco law reasons. Just speculation, and your idea of of Mail-to-Web and other's money coming through Porsche makes more sense. I guess we'll see at Road Atlanta soon! Maybe they'll run it in white only, like the debuts of the 961 at LeMans and the 962 at Daytona as well as the aborted Walkinshaw WSC car intro, also at Daytona.

Too bad about that ugly LMP2 double hoop.

Sascha Maassen and Lucas Luhr are going to drive the car in the 2 races this year, so I think they're just going with their sponsers. I'll bet that Penske will have an entirely new livery and maybe different drivers for next year.

I hope they are the 2006 drivers as well, this should be their ride for all the GT3 development time and effort (and wins). So you're saying that Penske is not running the team at Petite LeMans? I had not heard that... who will be running the team at those 2 races?

Tom - I don't know one way or another. I'm just guessing here, but I'll bet there will be a major sponser for Penske next year.

Are the 'Green Skulls' going to the race? We're putting together a preliminary plan for a Midwest Early S - R Gruppe drive to Atlanta!

Some Skulls will be present. Me for sure, probably Reid, but I have not gotten confirmation on Hal or Paul. Jim Garfield, are you planning to come down?

PLM is a yearly tradition for me, usually a 3-day camping trip. But without the World Challenge races this year, I may not head down quite as early. Let me know how the Mid West travel plans go.

Tom, I wish that I could make it for the PLM this year. Unfortunately I think that I have used up all of my spousal good will for multi day Porsche related activities for the summer. I am envious though. Hopefully we can all get together again sometime soon.

I'm holding my breath that this P2 car is the beginning of something big.
