    Chuck Stoddards 67 911S

Saw it Sunday at the Parade Concours. Beautiful, original and nicely equipped with rare options like a sport engine upgrade wiyh velocity stacks. The high point was meeting Chuck and talking to him about 67S's. Everything I noted as being a little differen't he would show me the cardex or have an explanation for. Like the radio antenae on the right side rather than the left. Chuck said that every car he ordered had the antenae on the right because he didn't like the glare. He also mandated that all his cars had a rear towhook. I've got some pics I will try to post this weekend. Was really awed.
    Currently:

    67 912 Vintage Racer
    68 912 Flipper
    83 911SC
    93 Mo30 968

    Question

I was a little surprised to see that car take top preservation honors. The side stripes are, er, challenged. The masking tape lines in a number of places on the black paint, original?. The little bullet Talbot-style mirror; did they make re-pops back then? The head rests...and on and on.

I have a lot of photos, but I'll shut up now. It's likely that I just don't understand the rules.

    Jens,

I heard from GeorgeK that you guys had a field day with some of the Concours judging. (Herr Schmidt would be proud)

Inspite of those issuses I look forward to seeing the photos of Stoddard's car. Thanks for posting them.

I wish that someone would post photos, for those of us who couldn't make it to Hershey.

    Hey Brian:

It was fun, but a little weird too. I think we expected more from such an icon. Hell, it was all kinds of fun!

I still need to process and size my photos, but here's one.

...and another shot from the other side. Look closely at where the wheel well is, relative to the "original stripes" an inch+ away. Maybe it's my eyes playing tricks on me. Or I'm not wearing the right "filters" in my glasses.

An actual Talbot mirror would have been more convincing-

Very cool black and green Pepita tweed-

I don't understand the head rests. I think I need some schooling on these.

It took top honors because...well, because he's Chuck Stoddard, and we're not. PCA has it's politics....
