Thread: Did I mess up my Fuchs??

Did I mess up my Fuchs??

I have original Fuchs on Kermit, and will someday have them redone, but for now, I just want to keep them clean.

I used some Blue Magic Metal Polish, and it cleaned the paddles OK, but the residue hung around on the black paint for weeks. (That looked really crummy, so that option is out in the future.) So this time, I decided to use some Wheel Cleaner - Bad Mistake. Now I have cloudy runs and drips all over the paddles and rims on my wheels.

I can't wash it off, and if I use Blue Magic again, and rub a LOT, I can get down to the anodized finish again.

Is there an easier way of getting back to my good looking wheels? And then how do I protect them and clean them in the future?

Larry, I fear you may have damaged the anodizing on your wheels with the harsh wheel cleaner, if you're using a polish to make the clouds go away you are more than likely polishing through the anodization (which is a tough surface, but thin)

In the future just use the soapy water you are washing your car with to clean the wheels, then give a light coat of vaseline as mentioned earlier to protect them.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time, and prolly won't be the last. But I will polish away, and see if I can eliminate the clouds without breaking through the anodizing.

Maybe I'll be restoring my wheels sooner than I thought!!
