Thread: Regarding.. Wanted MFI Parts!

  1. #11
i hate to chime in here, but i've talked to exec on the phone he listed to call. he seems like a reasonalble guy. we talked about a week ago before a lot of this ranting was posted. he really did have some concern about how he had presented himself and the flamming he was getting. however, i also got the feeling that exec is doing rather well in life financially in a tough business. so, he might have a bit of a competative nature and be willing to act aggresively to his benefit. i would assume that is his nature. however, i don't understand the go-srcew-yourselves bit as he didn't seem like an irrational person. that was uncalled for, imho.

    this is not tabs.

i think exec is a lot like many wheeler-dealers and i'm sure not everyone takes well to that kind. he was matter-of-fact to me about the whole thing and didn't waffle a bit about his feelings about the horse trading. i accepted his premise about buying what's offered and picking the right parts from the lot.

i really haven't had a lot of charity since i started back on cars after a many year hiatus. when i want something, i usually end up paying the going rate. at times i have bought more than one item due to offers, but now i'm afraid to sell the stuff only to called a dealer. i don't like the treatment i have gotten selling anyway, so that will no longer be an issue. all i'm saying is it's easy to get caught up in the moment and start selling things that have accumulated for one reason or another on ebay. now hear this, i posted a set of deep sixes here and on pelican months ago with no response after the requisite bumps. so, i fianlly ebayed them and got a ton of money from a local buyer. way more than i'd offered them for literally weeks. now, am i bad for that--[question]

just wanted to let you all know that exec is a pretty straight forward type that will apparently play the situation with plenty of available capital and most likely come out on top when the dealin' is done. well, maybe not here anymore. the only fault i can hold against him is not saying what i just said. and people aren't inclined to do that.

sorry for the no caps and lack of punctuation. my keyboard lost it's shift buttons.

    Well,

I posted a wanted ad for a near perfect dash for a 73S project, execmalibu made it a point to use my thread to plead his case on this whole parts issue, and "offered" to sell me his recently acquired dash....

I PM'd him, told him I'd pay market price.....no response.

Guess my money is no good.....BUT he had to stick his nose into my thread to keep on trying to make his point on his parts transactions.....

CASH is still waiting for a good dash!! (sticking my nose into his thread )

    Eric

When I see a part listed at a good price on this board I don't buy it unless I need it. I'll let someone else who needs the part take advantage of the "deal." But then again, I'm not a dealer and I don't make my living at this.

I think what rubs me is that this board is an enthusiast website first and foremost, a place where guys and girls can share their passion for early 911s and enjoy comraderie among people who have never and probably will never meet in person.

Any blatant commercialism like that demonstrated by execmalibu is contrary to the purpose of this board and affects the atmosphere negatively. My guess is that execmalibu, like most trolls, will tire of this site and go away after time.

By the way, I have on occasion offered parts for free that I no longer needed to fellow board members because I think that is what being a part of a community is all about.

Free is good karma and Tom has done that! BTW Tom you have a free karma box on the way. IMOHO both sides have valid points. I think this guy was full court pressed right out of the box. Maybe a little time here and he would have seen what a cut above most are on this board. He is obviously an intelligent person and owns some fine examples. If he or anyone else flipps parts or cars is their business. The people that are purchasing these parts are the ones that are enabaling said flippers. It isn't too difficult to do a search on past threads and find were these parts or how much they were bought for. For some these are just automotive parts and autos. Me, I have committed myself (and should be committed) to my cars. They are a part of me. I feel this board is one of the finest gatherings of diverse backgrounds. If one doesn't want to be friendly so be it. You get out of it what you put in. High jacking a thread is not the way to go about it. Starting a thread like this is.

    Hi Rick,
Words of wisdom coming from Orlando. Apparently you have been to the Magic Kingdom and seen the Mickey Lama.
Since I am too far away to see the great one myself, I have gone with option two: "Kung Fu" The complete first season (including the 90 minute pilot). Good stuff and highly suggested to temper some of our more high strung brethren. Having a one month old child can temper your aggression too: I am getting too little sleep to want to argue....

I think I have been influenced by the early tarzan flicks.

I don't want to be mistaken for defending exec, that is not my intention. Raising the counterpoint is. Also, exec told me that he was leaving town for two weeks and that is maybe why he has not responded regarding the dash. My whole interest surrounds an H1 chrome ring that he has in fair condition that I might be able to salvage. I told him I was in no hurry and I have not heard a word either.

BTW, I have sent a few things out for free as well and may do so in the future. I have been active on Pelican AFA parts are concerned more than here. I don't understand cross posting, so I just picked a site to post my offerings. As I said, due to some overall not too good experiences, I have quit selling parts. Part of this has to do with FedEx, not so much private parties. And my eBay experiences have been nothing short of awful, so I'm done there for certain.

The parts selling, trading thing can be viscious and I want no part in it anymore. I will continue to buy as needed and carefully at that.

Again, I'm not necessarily standing up for exec. But when the emotion is taken out of the situation, it appears differently. As it says above, "Take some pics and get on with it."
