Wheres the overspray? I dont see any.

If this car goes for $50K, it will make dropping another $25K on getting my 'S' to near concours less painful. Go prices, GO!

The value of this car rests on the seller's claim that it is "the best" original early T in existence. Is this true? Is this car THE ONE? Can anybody refute this and identify a better one? If not it might be worth a very high price. It would seem anytime someone can prove that such and such car is THE BEST of a particular collectible model there may be buyers willing to pay crazy money (even if its not an S).

How does this seller support his claim that his car is the number one very best in existence? Seems like a tall order to substantiate to me.

Yep, "best" is in the eye of the beholder. Just because I've never seen a better unrestored '72 S Coupe than my own doesn't mean they don't exist. I don't see overspray, but it could be there, my monitor is hardly the biggest or best. This T screams repaint to me, since the engine surround is body color, and that's NOT how the factory did it in '72. Eric, if you're reading all this, I wasn't kidding much when I asked your friend wanting to swap his '98 C2S for an early 2.4 911S how much cash he'd toss in...'98C2S models are falling in price (check ebay and Pano) while the early S seems to be on a roll upward. I was kidding that I'd seriously want a C2S... Anyway, this will be an interesting auction, since the car itself is a pretty plain jane 911T...nothing special back when it was new. (edit) Correcting myself...Boxter '03 is spot on...only I'd call it MORE than overspray, after blowing up the pic of the engine compartment...hell, they painted the hoses leading from the air conditioning compresser RED! Also, as far as I'm concerned, air on an early 911 is a minus, since even when new it only worked well when outside air temps were in the low 70's...Originally Posted by rickrick

I DON'T THINK SO!!
HERE ARE FOUR THAT I THINK ARE NICER,BUT YET DO NOT CONSIDER THEM THE BEST IN THE WORLD,JUST SOME OF THE FINEST OUT THERE
1/'67 911S WITH 50,000 MILES TOTALLY ORIGINAL
2/'69 911E WITH 15,600 MILES TOTALLY ORIGINAL
3/'69 911S WITH 24,000 ORIGINAL MILES MINOR PAINT TOUCH UP
4/'73 S TARGA TOTALLY ORIGINAL WITH 50,000 MILES
6 OTHER low milage S's,but with a repaint, like I said none of these are the best in the world . ENJOY THE HELL OUT OF YOUR CAR/CARS THEN IT'S THE BEST IN THE WORLD TO YOU
You're kidding, right? Those hoses aren't painted. That's just the color of the rubber. I'm no expert on A/C systems on these cars but I think those hoses may be original.Originally Posted by pwd72s

Here are photos of the motor the first time it was on eBay which reflects it's more original condition.
And here is how it currently looks, which is repainted of course. That is ashame they felt the need to do this. Actually I think it lowers the value rather than raise it. Sorry I can't seem to copy the image to the thread.

okay, I'll concede on the AC hoses...but the current seller had sex with the pooch when he painted the engine surround. Now, did he repaint the rest of the car as well???
