    Market Correct Prices

Of all the different prices guides, Porsche Market Letter, Black Book, Excellence, Old Car Price Guide, Sports Car Market, etc, which one comes closest to being market correct?

My opinion is that none are correct....the market is moving to fast, and none of them account for a) the really special condition cars b) modified (rgruppe) cars c) heavily optioned or special color cars.

Also, none can really account for that visceral emotional response that can drive prices sky high....

The auction results database for gold subscribers on Sports Car Market's web site is good for a lot of high end makes and models - not enough Porsches though.

I've found the only correct price is the one agreed upon by the seller and the buyer. The resources you list should only be for reference and in helping set general price vicinity. I would say that Ebay provides the most "real time" pricing, but I have noticed that Ebay prices tend to be higher than strict private party and classified ad prices.

Couldn't agree more...there are really too many variables involved, beginning with "condition-condition-condition". Just by following what I've seen on the boards, I believe that the bubble hasn't broken yet...the trend still seems to be upward and onward. Don, the ebay 911T you bid on? Looking at the engine surround, I'd say a repaint. '72 engine surrounds were black, with flecks of origninal color showing through.
