I think Mexborough's 3.0RS was Mexico Blue w/ gold stripes. It looks like it has slightly shiny wheels as well. I really don't like fully polished wheels or even polished lips but I sort of like this dulled look. As if we really needed another option between rough "RSR look", clear anodized, and polished.

...or raw from the dies then anodized.

I bet that Nick Moss has an idea about the RS 3.0 wheels. or Harvey hisownself.

Various factory pictures that I have show the 3.0RS as having RSR style anodised rims with polished lips and also fully polished rims

I knew you did the research when you built your blue car. That's pretty much what my photos show, so I don't know either. Somewhere I have photos of the Carrera RS 3.0/IROC prototype that had RSR frosty-anodized wheels. It's curious that it also has a combination of black and bright side window mouldings.

Just to add something to the factory wheel finish gene pool, take a look at this wheel approval meeting from back then. Izzat a deep six? Can you see a set of these factory finish Fuchs on a Polo Red car?! (or blue, green, yellow....) I wonder if a concours judge could be convinced.

Jens- you reminded me of what happened on an inventory scrapping here at the Culver City Porsche/ Audi warehouse. They were selling (thru the dealers) 9 and 11 fuchs for $200 each (yeah , i bought a few sets and boy , i made a killing at $500 each!)
but a contact there told me of load of colored alloys that they sent to the scrap yard. Don't remember if it was cookie cutters and fuchs - too long ago....
